Plasma physics: an introductory survey
نویسنده
چکیده
A plasma is an ionised gas in which the nearest neighbour interactions between the electrically-charged constituents (negatively-charged electrons and positivelycharged ions, which are in equal numbers so as to maintain overall electrical neutrality) is dominated by the long-range interactions of many ‘distant’ particles. In fact, many plasmas contain a significant number of unionised neutral atoms, but the long-range interactions dominate.

Impact of physics education research on the teaching of introductory quantitative physics in the United States
During the Fall of 2008 we designed and administered a web survey to collect information about pedagogical knowledge and practices of physics faculty. The survey was completed by a representative sample of 722 physics faculty across the United States a 50.3% response rate . This paper presents results of one part of the survey where faculty were asked to rate their level of knowledge and use of...
متن کاملA 21st century perspective as a primer to introductory physics
Much effort over many years has been devoted to the reform of the teaching of physics. This has led to many new and imaginative approaches in the content and delivery of material. Great strides have been made in the delivery, and the content has been continually supplemented. However, attempts to modernize the basic structure of the presentation have faced resistance, and the majority of introd...
متن کاملLessons From the Physics-Education Reform Effort
Several years ago I reported a survey (Hake 1998a,b,c) of pre/post test data for 62 introductory physics courses enrolling a total of 6542 students. The present article provides a summary of that survey and presents fourteen lessons from the physics-education reform effort that may assist the general upgrading of education and science literacy.

متن کاملCLUSTER ALGEBRAS AND CLUSTER CATEGORIES
These are notes from introductory survey lectures given at the Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics (IPM), Teheran, in 2008 and 2010. We present the definition and the fundamental properties of Fomin-Zelevinsky’s cluster algebras. Then, we introduce quiver representations and show how they can be used to construct cluster variables, which are the canonical generator...
